Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 3 July 2026

These terms explain, in plain English, how training with Vertical Personal Training works: what you're signing up to, how pricing and payment work, how to cancel, what happens if you miss a session, and the health and safety points that keep everyone training well. They apply when you become a paying client. Please read them before you start.

Who these terms are between

Vertical Personal Training is a small group personal training business run by Alfie in Brighton, operating as a sole trader ("we", "us", "our"). They apply between us and you, the client ("you", "your"). Our contact details are at the end of this page.

Registering interest is not a contract

Completing our register-interest form doesn't commit you to anything and doesn't create a contract. It simply tells us your goals and availability so we can get in touch. A contract for training only begins once we've agreed a plan with you, you've confirmed you want to start, and your first payment is made.

Plans and pricing

Membership is billed monthly. Current plans are:

Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. We'll always tell you the price of your plan before you start, and we'll give you reasonable notice in writing before any price change affects you.

Payment and billing

Your right to cancel (cooling-off period)

Because you sign up without us meeting in person to agree the contract, you normally have a 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, starting the day after your agreement begins. If you cancel within those 14 days, you'll get a refund.

If you ask us to start your sessions within the 14 days and then cancel, we may charge you a fair amount for the sessions you've already had before you cancelled. To use your cooling-off right, just tell us in writing (email or WhatsApp) using the details below.

Cancelling your membership after the cooling-off period

You can cancel your rolling monthly membership at any time. To stop your next payment, please let us know at least 7 days before your next monthly payment date. Cancelling stops future payments; we don't refund the current month once it has started, but you're welcome to keep training for the rest of the month you've paid for.

Health, fitness and your PAR-Q

Your safety comes first. Before you start training with us:

Any results described on our website or by other clients are examples, not promises. Individual results vary depending on your effort, consistency, starting point and other factors.

At the venue

Sessions take place at a partner gym. While you're there you agree to follow the venue's rules and any safety instructions, and you may be asked to complete the venue's own waiver in addition to ours. Please treat the equipment, the space and other people with respect.

Our responsibility to you

We'll coach you with reasonable skill and care, using appropriate qualifications and insurance. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited or excluded by law.

Beyond that, we aren't responsible for loss or injury that results from you not following coaching instructions, not disclosing relevant health information, or exercising against medical advice. We're also not responsible for personal belongings brought to the venue.

If something goes wrong

If you're ever unhappy with your training or how we've handled something, please tell us first — we'll always try to put it right. You keep all of your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a significant change that affects you, we'll let you know. The latest version will always be the one linked from our website, with the "last updated" date at the top of this page.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.

How to contact us

A note on these terms. This is a plain-English starting template, not legal advice. The pricing, cancellation notice period and cooling-off wording reflect the current offer — if any of those change, or before you rely on these terms for a paid membership, have them reviewed and update the "last updated" date.
